The work of administering drugs to patients by infusion, injection, or other means happens daily in all kinds of medical settings, from ICUs to general hospital wards. Usually, a safe drug administration requires confirmation of several things during preparation and just before administration: The right patient, right drug, right volume, right method, right time, and right purpose. Care is also required for the safety of medical professionals, including management of the risk of coming into contact with drugs that affect the human body.
Terumo has pursued and incorporated into its drug administration product systems functionality and design that reduces a variety of associated risks. As drug administration management for patients has become more complex and exact in recent years, Terumo has promoted “Digital Health:” Advanced Infusion Systems equipped with drug libraries; and infusion and syringe pumps with connectivity to hospital IT systems, automated record monitoring, and prescription coordination. We will continue our efforts to standardize and make prescriptions and administration more efficient, and improve treatment safety.
Needlefree Connectors
Surplug™ Micro Clear® is a closed system infusion needleless connector, clinically-proven clear design technology to reduce the risk of bacterial contamination and improve patient outcomes. The only needleless connector with neutral fluid displacement and a clear housing that lets you visualize the fluid path so you can clearly see whether you have completely flushed the connector after blood draws or administration. Using closed infusion system, helps to reduce catheter-related bloodstream infection (CRBSI)1. The neutral displacement straight fluid path design, split-septum and minimal dead-space of the Micro Clear work together to help minimize blood reflux into the tip of the catheter upon connection or disconnection of the luer.

Nutrition Systems
SAFEED™ is Terumo’s trademark for NGT and extension tubes. Used to administer liquid medicine, liquid food and drink needed for the patients through mouth or nose (enteral nutrition). Larger size catheters are used to collect fluids through the mouth or nose, collect gastric fluids, wash, infuse drugs and for drainage after surgery. The SAFEED™ extension tube can be connected to a 3-way-stopcock, also used for administering medication using a syringe pump.

Preza Pak II Sampling Kit is a blood gas analysis syringe with dry heparin. Dry heparin lithium is encapsulated as an anticoagulant. No need for blood collection preparation and no dilution of blood. The blood collection practice same as blood aspiration using syringe. Low heparin type (7 units) is perfect for electrolyte measurement. Short bevel needle ensure arterial puncture will not exceed the vessel.
